Logic

Once you have a number of different clock, gate or wave sources, you begin to wonder how you can combine them to create interesting textures and variations. Logic modules are great at taking a few different sources and outputting something unique and new from them.

The logic module design I chose was MidCentury Modular’s Strata. This module takes three inputs and then ‘sorts’ them into three outputs, one which is always the maximum of all three signals (essentially, a logical ‘or’), one which is the middle of the three input signals, and one which is the minimum of all three signals (essentially, a logical ‘and’).

The three inputs are normalled to +5V, ground, and -5V when they aren’t patched which gives some good options to experiment with when you aren’t using all three inputs.

Each output has two leds which show the polarity of the signal and give a rough idea of what the three outputs look like at a glance.
